FLOAM, which stands for Future Leaders on An Academic Mission, began its journey with a simple yet profound aspiration: to empower young minds to achieve their dreams through education. Established on June 23, 2014, by the visionary Morris Choma, FLOAM emerged from a heartfelt desire to make a tangible difference in the lives of learners striving for success.
Morris Choma's journey began as a volunteer tutor for grade 12 learners at his former secondary school. Despite early challenges and limited resources, FLOAM began winter classes in 2014 with university student tutors balancing their academic commitments. Despite hurdles, FLOAM remained dedicated to supporting learners, resulting in many achieving remarkable success in their exams.
However, between 2015 and 2017, FLOAM encountered setbacks as the founding team struggled to maintain the program's momentum due to various commitments. Yet, amidst these trials, the unwavering commitment to the organization's mission persisted.
In 2018, Morris Choma, along with co-founders Mr Bigboy Madihlaba and Mrs Lutendo Choma, made a pivotal decision to formalize FLOAM's operations by registering the program with relevant entities.
Moreover, FLOAM is not just about academic success—it's about instilling a sense of social responsibility and giving back to the community. Through mentorship, guidance, and assistance with university applications, FLOAM equips future leaders with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive.
Floam is registered with the Department of Social Development (NPO No 208/327) and the Companies and Intellectual Properties Commission (CIPC Reg No 2018/259816/08).
